I loved photographing this idyllic bridal portrait session in the tropical paradise of Hawaii’s Big Island. The contrast between this soft, simple, and infinitely elegant vintage gown against the flow of hardened lava gets me every time. It’s a serene and tranquil beach-side, lava rock photo shoot that has such a different feel and tone from my beloved wedding photography in Spokane – what a fun challenge it is to work in different destinations around the world! This was my first experience shooting a portrait session in volcanic smog (vog), which is created as the Kilauea volcano oozes hot lava. There’s not doubt that the Hawaiian islands are made for romance, and that vog made for some pretty magical and romantic light and atmosphere at sunset!
Many thanks to the vendors who were involved in this ethereal bridal portrait session!
